Acceptance of notification of Electricity Interconnection EuroAsia by National Authority for Projects of Common Interest .

NICOSIA, July 25, 2016 – The Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism as the National Competent Authority responsible for the coordination of all permit granting processes (‘one-stop shop’) for Projects of Common Interest of the European Union, accepted the notification of the electricity interconnection EuroAsia Interconnector under article 10(1)(a) of the REGULATION (EU) No 347/2013 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 17 April 2013 on guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure.

The National Competent Authority, after examining the submitted documents and information relating to the electrical interconnection EuroAsia Interconnector and after having consulted the concerned authorities, decided that it has reached a sufficient degree of maturity to start the permit granting process and accepted the notification of the electricity interconnection EuroAsia interconnector.

The EuroAsia Interconnector’s Project Promoter wants to thank the Minister, the Director General and the staff of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Tourism, and the officers of all involved authorities, for their trust and support given towards the implementation of the electricity interconnection EuroAsia Interconnector within the timelines as forwarded to the European Commission.
