Neoclis Nicolaou joins EuroAsia Interconnector

NICOSIA, November 29, 2018 – Neoclis Nicolaou, Vice Chairman of the Cyprus Development Bank has joined the EuroAsia Interconnector Strategic Council as a board member and Chairman of the Budget Committee.

Neoclis Nicolaou, Vice Chairman of the Cyprus Development Bank has joined the EuroAsia Interconnector Strategic Council as a board member and Chairman of the Budget Committee.

EuroAsia Interconnector is the Project Promoter of the European Commission Project of Common Interest (PCI), connecting the electricity grids of Israel, Cyprus, Crete and Attica in Greece with the European system through a 1,518km subsea high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable with a design capacity of 2,000 MW.

“Mr Nicolaou joins the Strategic Council bringing on board his vast experience in corporate and investment banking, and corporate strategy. In particular, his extensive knowledge in dealing with public-private partnerships will contribute significantly to the smooth development of the project,” Project Director George Killas said.

“The entire EuroAsia Interconnector team welcomes Neoclis Nicolaou who will bring his experience and know-how, and will chair the EuroAsia Interconnector’s Budget Committee,” added Communications Director Masis der Parthogh.

Currently, Neoclis Nicolaou is Vice-Chairman of the Cyprus Development Bank.

Neoclis Nicolaou was born in Larnaca in 1959 and has an MBA from Manchester Business School. He is a recipient of the W.J. Thomas Award for Economics and the Cobden Prize for work in Econometrics. He has extensive experience in investment management, capital raising, project and investment finance, financial engineering, valuations, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and has acted as an expert advisor on governmental projects. More recently, he was instrumental and played a key role in the only two privatisations in Cyprus, namely the CDB and the Limassol Port.

Neoclis is married and has three children, and in his free time he is a Champion of Historic Car Rallies and a multinstrumentalist.
