Nicosia, 30 December 2022 – The EuroAsia Interconnector, following the signing on November 10, 2022, of the Reservation Agreement with Nexans, which constitutes a critical step for the EuroAsia Interconnector, is moving forward focusing on the implementation timeframe.

The EuroAsia Interconnector links the national electricity grids of Israel, Cyprus and Greece (Crete) with the European electricity grid, ends the energy isolation of Cyprus, the last non-interconnected EU member state, and ensures energy security of supply to all stakeholder member states and the European Union.
The signed Reservation Agreement enables the commencement of works and ensures the reservation of the required manufacturing and installation capacity to design, manufacture, supply, install and test the onshore and offshore HVDC cable systems for the timely implementation of the world’s longest and deepest subsea electricity interconnector.
